Casting

Dr. Henry Walton “Indiana” Jones, Jr. (Harrison Ford) is the protagonist of the film. Jones, a tenured professor of archaeology, is characterized by his bullwhip, fedora, satchel, and leather jacket.

Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) is an old love interest of Indiana Jones and the daughter of a professor of archaeology, Indiana’s mentor. In the film Marion helps Indiana with his quest to locate the Ark of the Covenant.

Dr. René Emile Belloq (Paul Freeman), Indiana’s adversary is a French archaeologist who follows Indiana and takes credit for his findings.
