virtual cinema >> the virtual cinema project
The Steven Spielberg Jewish Film Archive began to make
its films accessible online in 2002. This project is made
possible by funds raised by the American Friends
of the Hebrew University in honor of the late Jack
Valenti, Former Chairman of the Motion Picture Association
of America. Over 400 films are curently available for viewing
in full for free. It is the Archive's hope that this pioneering
effort will be of benefit to all users, whether for purposes
of study, research or production. To view the films click
here.
The films on this site are the copyright of the
Spielberg Archive and are intended for viewing only. All
unauthorized use is prohibited.
The new portal can be searched by subject, word or alphabetically.
Further content, credit and technical information may be
found by searching the Archive's
online
catalog. To view the films you need adsl or
broadband.
Due to the multitude of variables in the age and condition of the original films, the digitization process, and the speed of each user's connection over the Internet, we cannot guarantee an identical viewing experience for each user. Please be aware that some of the earlier titles are silent. Adjust your speaker volume accordingly for the sound films.
These films all contain a time code, enabling viewers seeking footage
for productions to order precisely defined excerpts, which
will be charged according to the Archive's
tariffs
and
procedures.
Excerpts can be ordered by
contacting
the Archive.
